Behind the Scenes at Benton County Tourism & Recreation
Have you ever wondered what it really takes to promote a destination like Benton County? At Benton County Tourism & Recreation (BCTR), our work goes far beyond brochures and visitor guides. We serve as the official Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for Benton County—strategically promoting our communities, attractions, and experiences to visitors near and far.
Behind the scenes, our team manages the full scope of Benton County’s tourism efforts. From marketing and advertising to visitor services and long-term planning, we work to build and protect a strong tourism brand for our communities. We collaborate closely with local attractions, lodging partners, restaurants, retailers, and event organizers to create compelling reasons for visitors to come—and to keep them coming back.
Our efforts extend beyond county lines. BCTR partners with destination marketing organizations across Missouri and works closely with the Missouri Division of Tourism to ensure Benton County is represented in regional and statewide campaigns. These partnerships allow us to expand our reach, leverage shared resources, and stay current on tourism trends and opportunities.
Our mission is simple: to increase visitation, strengthen the local economy, and highlight the unique character and experiences that make Benton County special. Board of Directors
Benton County Tourism & Recreation’s Board of Directors includes a mix of local leaders who bring valuable experience and insight to help guide the organization.

- Ten (10) voting members are selected from the community and local businesses. These individuals are chosen for their expertise in areas such as banking, insurance, marketing, public relations, economic development, customer service, business and event management, government, strategic planning, and nonprofit leadership.
- Ex Officio (non-voting) members include:
- Executive Director of Benton County Tourism & Recreation.
Together, these board members work to promote Benton County as a vibrant and welcoming destination for visitors.
